Our Beliefs
DECLARATION OF FAITH
Preamble
We, as a historical Baptist church will function as a sovereign and autonomous Fellowship,
composed of believers who have joined and committed to this Fellowship, that will decide matters of
church policy and affiliation.
ARTICLE I
We believe the Scriptures, in the original manuscripts, both the Old and New testaments, to be the plenarily and verbally inspired Word of God without error. They are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the divine and sole authority for all Christian faith and life (2 Tim. 3:16;
2 Peter 1:21).
We believe any translation that faithfully seeks to accurately present the words of the original manuscripts is useful for the body (2 Tim. 2:15; Psalm 12:6-7).
We reject any translation that reflects a cultural or doctrinal bias; further, we reject any position that elevates one translation to the level of the original manuscripts (2 Pet. 2:1-3; 2 Cor. 4:2).
ARTICLE II
We believe in one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally
existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Mark 12:29; 2 Cor. 13:14; Heb. 1:1-3; Matt.
28:18-19).
ARTICLE III
We believe Jesus Christ is true God and true Man having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and
born of the Virgin Mary (John 1:1-2; Luke 2:40; Luke 1:30-35). He died on the cross as a sacrifice for
our sins according to the Scriptures (Rom. 3:24-26; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 Cor. 15:3). He arose bodily from the
dead and ascended into Heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He now is our High
Priest and Advocate (John 20:20; 1 Cor. 15:4; Acts 1:4 Eph. 1:20-21; Heb. 12:2; Heb. 7:25; 1 John 2:1) .
ARTICLE IV
We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and during this age
to convict men of sin, regenerate the sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for Godly
living and service (John 16:7-15; John 3:5; 14:16-17: Titus 3:5; Gal. 5:16).
ARTICLE V
We believe man was created in the image and likeness of God, but fell into sin and is therefore
lost, totally depraved; and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and eternal life be
obtained (Gen. 1:26; 2:17; 3:6; Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:1-3; Eph. 2:4-5; John 3:5-7).
ARTICLE VI
We believe in the reality and personality of Satan, and that he is the enemy of God and of the
people of God (Isa. 14:12-17; Ezek. 28:11-19; Job 1:6-2:8; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; 11:13-15; 12:7).
We believe Satan was judged at the cross, though not then executed, and he, as a usurper, now rules as the "god of this age" awaiting the day of his final judgment (John 16:11; Col. 2:15; Rev. 20:10; I Peter 5:8; I John 4:4).
ARTICLE VII
We believe the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only basis for
justification and salvation, and only such as believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, by faith, are born of the
Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God (1 Peter 1:18-19; John 1:12; Rom. 1:16-17; Rom. 4:25;
Rom. 10: 9-13).
ARTICLE VIII
We believe in the bodily and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe watching and
waiting for this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer (John
14:1-3; 1 Cor. 15: 51-55; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2:11-14; 1 John 3:1-3; Acts 1:11; Matt. 25:13).
ARTICLE IX
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness
and joy with the Lord and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment (1 Cor.
15:1-5; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Rev. 20:11-15).
ARTICLE X
We believe in the eternal security of the believer based upon God’s Grace and the very nature of
His divine gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ and the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit (John 5:24;
10:28-29; 14:16-17; 17:11; Rom. 8:38-39; Heb. 7:25).
ARTICLE XI
We believe water baptism by immersion soon after accepting Christ as personal Savior is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life (Rom. 6:3-6; Matt. 28:19).
We believe the Lord’s supper is a memorial service setting forth in sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ till He comes, and only true believers should share in it (Acts 10:47-
48).
We believe the Lord’s supper is a memorial service setting forth in sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ till He comes, and only true believers should share in it (Acts 10:47-
48).
ARTICLE XII
We believe God created mankind in His image both male and female. All conduct with the intent
to adopt a gender other than one’s birth gender is sin (Gen 1:27; Deut. 22:5; Matt. 19:4; Mark 10:6).
We believe God has established marriage as an exclusive relationship between a man and a woman (Gen 2:18-25).
We believe sexual activity outside the marriage relationship is sin (Ex. 20-14, 17, 22:19; Lev. 18:22-23, 20:13, 15-16; Matt. 19:4-6,9; Rom. 1:18-31; I Cor. 6:9-10, 15-20; I Tim. 1:8-11; Jude 7).

ARTICLE XIII
We believe church discipline is a Biblical responsibility for the local assembly (I Cor. 5; I Tim.
1:20).
We believe church discipline is a process seeking the repentance and reconciliation of those in
our fellowship (2 Cor. 7:9-11; Matt. 5:24).
We believe the extreme step of separation and exclusion applies to those participating in blatant and public sin (Matt. 18:15-17).
We believe the goal of church discipline is restoration to the fellowship of believers and to God (2 Cor. 2:2-11; Gal. 6:1).
We believe that church discipline brings glory to God by protecting the integrity of the fellowship and emphasizing His grace and forgiveness (Matt. 5:14-16; Matt. 18:21-35; Titus 2:11-14).

Section 3
Membership Commitment
We joyfully and solemnly enter into mutual agreement, depending upon the Holy Spirit to guide
and assist us in our commitment to one another in our local assembly in the body of Christ, having been
saved by grace through faith, repenting, believing and submitting to the Lord Jesus Christ, and having
been baptized, as a public profession of faith, by immersion, in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit.
We commit to work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
We commit to regularly gather with this local church to walk and worship together in Christian
love, with grace, mercy, and forgiveness, exercising affectionate care and watchfulness over each other,
faithfully praying for one another, encouraging, and admonishing one another to good works.
We commit to exercise our biblical responsibility to reprove sinful behavior while affording every
person compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes
directed toward any individual are not in accord with Scripture, nor the doctrines of Grace Baptist Church.
We commit to endeavor by a pure and loving example to seek the salvation of our family,
friends, and community and to disciple believers with patience, humility, and kindness. We commit to
rejoice with one another and bear one another’s burdens and sorrows.
We commit to seek, by the power of the Spirit, to conduct ourselves in a Christ-like manner as
ambassadors for Christ in the world, making every effort to advance the Kingdom of God.
We commit to work together for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry in this church,
as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. We will share our time, resources, and
spiritual gifts in support of the ministries of this church since all we have is from God.
By God’s Grace, we commit to continue in the faith as delivered in God’s Word, wherever we may
be.
